Post-mortem

assalamualaikum warahmatullah and hi to all

yesterday (friday) i went to a post-mortem sign-up session with Louise (my PBL mate). stood there for approximately 2 hours watching the doctors did their job while keeping myself busy holding and examining 'appropriate' organs.

managed to attend to 2 bodies: the first one was an old lady, died with congestive heart failure, while the second was a young man with an epileptic history and had some damage on the inferior aspect of his left frontal cerebral cortex due to a previous surgery or trauma (i'm not sure which one).

Was the session informative for me? big YES.

Was it scary? not really.

Made me nauseous? i'd seen worse.

Will I volunteer to attend another P.M. anytime in the future? OF COURSE (well, one of the junior doctors invited me to come again next week. thinking of bringing over a couple of 1st or 2nd year medics as well)

Full stop.

"Allah recalls souls at the time of their death, and those who have not died, during their sleep. He holds on to anyone from whom death has been decided for, and sends the others back for a specific period. Verily in this are Signs for those who reflect."

PUISI 2004 & Winter in Belfast Pictures

assalamualaikum warahmatullah and hi everyone,

got nothing much to say, except sincere prayers for the tsunami victims and deep condolences to their respective families. i was in belfast when the news broke out. how cheap is the price of our lives, and how easily can Allah takes them away from us. let us self-reflect on ourselves, and do muhasabah every night before we go to sleep. let tomorrow be a better day than today. al-fatihah.

anyway, click here to see my pictures during the Perhimpunan Ukhuwwah Insaniyyah Seluruh Ireland (PUISI) 2004, organized by Persatuan Pelajar Islam Malaysia Ireland (PPIMI) at Glendalough, a tourist spot among the mountains in County Wicklow, The Republic of Ireland. there are few pictures of me and najib during our short trip to belfast as well (after PUISI 2004). enjoy.
